What is the white or black tab on the end of my cartridge?
That is the seal. The seal keeps toner from spilling into the box during shipping. To remove the seal, simply hold the cartridge firmly, face the seal (tab) away from you (some prefer to set it on a table), grasp the seal and pull it straight out away from the cartridge. The seal my be hard to pull at first but it is necessary to completely remove it in order for the cartridge to work properly. It is normal for a small amount of toner to spill out when you you remove the seal so try to be near a trashcan.

What is the shelf life of my toner cartridge?
The shelf life of a remanufactured cartridge is the same as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Cartridges usually have a shelf life of 20-24 months if kept in the proper conditons: *Store the cartridge in the orginal packaging. *Store in a cool, dry location. *Keep the cartridge out of extreme temperatures. These steps will help keep your cartridge "fresh" and may lengthen the the shelf life.

What is the difference between new (OEM) and Remanufactured Cartridges?
There is no noticeable difference between new and remanufactured cartridges. My cartridge is advertised as having a certain page yield. How is that determined and will I get the same page yield each time?
All cartridges come with an advertised page yield. That page yield is set by the 5% coverage rule. In other words if a page is printed and only 5% of that page is covered in print then the page yield will be reached. An example of 5% coverage is a company leterhead or a very short note. Any additional coverage on the page will lower your page yield. Printing bold text, fine print, legal pages or double sided printing are examples of ways that a page yield may be lower.
